The Erasmus+ My Peace project seeks to contribute to the process of peacebuilding across Europe. At its core is music, offering innovative tools and methodologies to youth educators, aiming to inspire their engagement and motivate them to make a difference.
On February 26th, the My Peace project kicked off at Le Rocher, beginning with an event designed to foster a dynamic of exchange and collaboration. Nine young students, some minors, some young adults currently pursuing their studies, including those at La Morlette High School in Cenon and others in higher education, gathered to listen to three invited organizations, each presenting their work and sparking meaningful dialogue with the participants.
SOS Méditerranée: Saving Lives at Sea an Act of Peace
Represented by three volunteers, SOS Méditerranée presented its commitment to rescuing migrants at risk in the central Mediterranean sea. Founded in 2015, the organization provides sea rescue services without distinction, following international maritime law. Their vision of peace is rooted in the belief that every life saved is an act of resistance against apathy, indifference and violence. A lively discussion arose on how politics influences access to peace and human rights.
Le Collectif Bienvenue: Solidarity Over Individualism The Key to Peace
Created since 2018, le Collectif Bienvenue supports migrants in difficulty, challenges migration-related prejudices, and advocates for migrant integration into French society. Their central motto is: "Individualism breeds fear; solidarity breeds hope."
La Maison Ukrainienne: Choosing Peace a daily Challenge
Founded in 2022, La Maison ukrainienne provides support to ukrainians displaced by war. Its founder emphasized that peace remains the top priority. The organization's approach centers on humanitarian aid, the preservation of Ukrainian culture, and the crucial role of education and culture in transmitting memory while avoiding the spread of hatred.
A First Step Toward Collective Creation
Following this event, participants were invited to explore the theme of peace, working with words and proverbs from their own cultural and social backgrounds. This exercise helped them prepare for future workshops, in which they will contribute to the creation of guides and artistic works focused on peace. This collective dynamic, fueled by the energy of the young participants and enriched by the meeting with the associations, tends to be the beginning of a deeper understanding of peacebuilding. It opened the door to shared commitment, fostering hope and resilience.
